Here are the movies that have inspired me to travel. After watching one of these, I start to daydream and plan my next adventure. Today I’m sharing them with you – will you add one of these film locations to your wish list?

About: Set in Australia, it’s based on a true story of a young woman (Robyn Davidson) with 4 camels and her dog walking from Alice Springs to the Indian Ocean. The journey was 2000 miles.
Travel Inspiration: Willing to go against all the people warning you away from your dream. Robyn is truly inspiring, that she was willing to travel through an area of the world were she could have died. After watching the movie, I definitely want to reconnect with nature.

About: Set in Tokyo, this movie tells the story of a young, lonely wife (Scarlett Johansson) and an ageing movie star (Bill Murray). They start a friendship where there is a lot unspoken. A great portrayal of first arriving in a foreign country with jet-lag and that sense of disconnection.
Travel Inspiration: I visited Japan because of this movie, and every time I watch it, I want to go back. It really captures the feelings of being in a foreign country.
About: Three estrained brothers going across India by train. They all have their own issues they are dealing with. A comedy by Wes Anderson who is fantastic who achieving the right mood and beautiful, beautiful compositions.
Travel Inspiration: This film inspired me to visit India. Unfortunately I didn’t upgrade on my train-ride to something like their spectacular rooms.
About: A young Frenchman moves to Barcelona as an exchange student. It follows him as he settles into a new country and moves in a house-share with mixed nationalities. Great portrayal of the ups and downs of moving countries.
Travel Inspiration: I watched this film just before moving to London and I wanted a flat just like this. Luckily I did experienced a chaotic and fun filled home of friendly people from different countries.
About: Liz Gilbert feels dissatisfied with her life which has a nice house, husband and successful career. She abandons all on a quest of self-discovery that takes her to Italy, India and Bali.
About: Ernesto “Che” Guevara travels with his friend from Brazil to Peru by motorcycle. The two men see a lot of unhappiness in South America. Ernesto’s values change after the trip.
Travel Inspiration: South America! About going with the flow and having no solid plans – seeing where the road takes you. About travel struggles, meeting new people and learn from them. After seeing this film, South America was firmly on my travel wish-list.
